Revolutionizing Oleoresins for Food Applications
Kalsec® was one of the first to develop oleoresins for both water and oil and has been continuously researching and testing to improve the system for the past 60 years.
When Howard Haley joined the Kalsec lab in 1976 he was given one of his first assignments: to create a line of oleoresins that were soluble and dispersible in both water and oil. Finding a product that would work in both water and oil would make product formulation much easier for food manufacturers, so this type of oleoresin would revolutionize the industry.
Howard researched many different food grade components and ran countless tests and experiments. After hours of research, he presented his findings to Paul Todd Jr., Kalsec’s founder, and several others. After several iterations, Paul was impressed enough to apply for patents, and Aquaresin® was born.
Aquaresin® provided the food industry with a convenient, water-dispersible way of incorporating oleoresins into food applications. They allowed for wider use within the industry and contributed to the much wider use of spice extracts in general.
