Vertical Integration

Two-thirds of Kalsec revenues are sourced from raw materials made from Kalsec seed, farms or long-term growers. Through our Agricultural Assurance Program, we take steps to ensure our naturally-sourced ingredients provide you with the confidence that your finished food and beverages perform consistently and are safe and compliant. Many of our raw materials, such as carrot, chilies, and rosemary, are sourced through individual, Kalsec approved farmers. In addition to routine visits to all sourcing countries, Kalsec maintains standard practices to ensure quality ingredients are delivered to our customers.


Strict quality control procedures are employed by Kalsec at all stages of production. Each raw material batch is tested and qualified before it is approved for use. After the extraction stage, Kalsec products are evaluated to make certain they meet established standards, ensuring you receive consistent, quality ingredients.

Kalsec manufacturing facilities have achieved organic certification by Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO), a leader in organic certification. The certification meets the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Organic Program (NOP) and European Union standards.


Kalsec extracts have been found to safely reduce the risks for pathogens in food and beverage manufacturers’ finished products. This has been confirmed through an overall safety process and formulation review initiated by Kalsec and conducted independently by Covance Laboratories.

Kalsec was awarded the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 2 certification under the Global Food Safety Initiative Edition 7.2. The certification is for food ingredient manufacturers that include spice extracts, color, flavors, antioxidants and hop products. SQF certification is achieved by demonstrating exceptional quality control and food safety practices.
