Performance & Benefits
-
A: Our products reduce vegetative waste, lower shipping and storage requirements and improve yield due to their concentrated form, contributing to a more sustainable and resource-friendly process.
-
KalHops products are standardized for consistent flavor, aroma, and bitterness—batch after batch. By minimizing natural crop variability, we help brewers maintain recipe integrity and reduce the need for adjustments. For best results, we recommend accurate dosing and small-scale trials to dial in performance for your process.
-
A: Yes, using hop acids or hop oils can simplify steps like dry hopping and eliminate the need for micro-adjustments caused by crop variability, streamlining your brewing process.
-
A: Our hop products are built with the finished beverage in mind. By fractionating and standardizing the most desirable hop compounds, we deliver flavor, aroma, and consistency not always possible with traditional hop products.
-
A: When used at typical concentrations, KalHops hop oils do not contribute to haze. However, excessive dosing may lead to slight turbidity, so we recommend starting with suggested usage rates and scaling as needed.
Using KalHops Products
-
A: Hop extracts are concentrated forms of hops, capturing essential oils and hop acids without the vegetative matter found in pellets. They offer consistent bitterness and aroma, improved stability, and reduced waste in brewing processes.
-
A: KalHops hop oils provide precise flavor and aroma adjustments, increase brewing efficiency by reducing beer loss, and offer a sustainable alternative to traditional hopping methods.
-
A: Dosing rates depend on the specific hop extract, desired flavor intensity, and beer style. While general starting points exist, we recommend bench trials to fine-tune application based on your brewing process.
-
A: KalHops hop extracts are designed to complement or reduce traditional hopping, enabling brewers to enhance hop expression and control over flavor, aroma, and bitterness while improving efficiency
- Hop acids for bitterness & stability: KalHops hop acids are primarily added post-fermentation to fine-tune bitterness, enhance stability, and improve foam retention. However, select product such as, Kettle Rho, and Kettle Aroma 4/3A, are designed for kettle-stage addition to achieve consistent bittering.
- Hop oils for dry hopping & aroma: KalHops hop oils can enhance or replace traditional dry hopping, providing precise and consistent hop character without introducing vegetative matter. This reduces beer loss, eliminates hop creep, and improves process efficiency.
- Optimizing dry hopping: To balance biotransformation and non-volatile polyphenols, we recommend pairing KalHops dry hop products with a portion of traditional dry hopping. This approach preserves natural fermentation-driven transformations while ensuring a standardized, repeatable hop expression.
